Seventy South Western Group members from 12 regional branches marked the milestone at the Allansford Hall on Wednesday.
The combined social day included dozens of homemade scones and cups of tea, acts by each branch depicting the association’s 90 years, a performance by the University of the Third Age choir and a parade of hats dating back to the late 1800s.
President Pam Andrew said there were lots of laughs and songs during the day.
There was also a competition where members brought a gift suitable for a person in their 90s, which will be given to nursing home residents. Winning items included a fabric armchair holder and a pair of knitted socks.
She said local CWA groups had experienced a resurgence following the introduction of evening branches and remained relevant with women learning to cook, knit and make jams.
