The Warrnambool man first failed a drug test on Friday and then again on Monday meaning he will face court for the second offence as the penalty for a first offence is a $476 fine and a six-month loss of licence.
Police also detected an additional three impaired drivers, including that man, on Sunday and another three on Monday.
Acting Inspector Steve Thompson said in all instances the male drivers were detected in random police intercepts.
“Police in Warrnambool detected three positive drug drivers (on Monday), one of whom was also detected last Friday,” Acting Inspector Thompson said. “He was done on Friday and he was done again today.”
Acting Inspector Thompson said police would not tolerate the behaviour which put other motorists’ safety at risk.
“Impaired driving is always and will continue to be a strong focus for us simply because we know the community harm that sort of behaviour has the potential to cause,” he said.
“We’re extremely disappointed with that result.
“The dangers associated with driving impaired, or having drugs in your system, exacerbates the circumstances and we remind people that drugs and their impact last for some time after the taking.”
Warrnambool police were also kept busy on Saturday night, detecting two motorists who were caught driving with suspended licences.
