McLean rolled his ankle in the first quarter and played no further part in the Saints’ 7.8 (50) to 4.11 (35) defeat of the Bloods at Victoria Park.
Koroit coach Chris McLaren said that the injury had already been diagnosed.
“We got it checked and there were no breaks. He just has a badly sprained ankle,” McLaren said.
“We expect it to be a two-week injury and then we have the bye, so we think he could be back after that.”
Bloods mentor Michael Sargeant said he was pleased with his side’s will to stay in the game.
A lot of sides probably have rolled over when they are down against Koroit at half-time and let them run away with it,” he said.
“We didn’t allow that to happen. It could have easily been a eight or nine goal loss, but we stuck fat and toughed it right out to the end.”
