Sergeant Tom Morris, of Warrnambool police, said the woman had “significant injuries”. The incident occurred about 1.20pm.
“It appears a gentleman has reversed a Ford up the driveway for repairs,” Sergeant Morris said. “His wife was walking up the drive at the same time.
“The car has rolled forward towards her. She attempted to stop the car and unfortunately it has rolled over her and trapped her.
“The SES and CFA worked really well together to jack the car up and free her so the ambulance officers could work on her.”
A Warrnambool Base Hospital spokeswoman said the woman was in a critical condition, had been stabilised and transferred to the Alfred hospital in Melbourne via air on Wednesday night.
A Warrnambool SES spokesman said three trucks responded to the incident using the Jaws of Life equipment to free the woman.
