Cat adoption fees will be scratched during an end of financial year promotion at Warrnambool RSPCA.
Shelter supervisor Tracey Patterson said 122 cats were surrendered by their owners over the past six months and 301 strays taken in.
“Whether it’s people moving house or unexpected litters of kittens, these numbers are pretty normal but they highlight the importance of having your pets microchipped and desexed,” she said.
Mrs Patterson said there were 52 cats waiting at the shelter to be re-homed.
The cat fee waiver promotion will run from Thursday, June 14 until Saturday, June 16.
