The Western Plains Spinners and Weavers Craft Group is hosting its annual show in Mortlake and member Barbara Porter said this year’s event would be hands-on.
“We’re going to focus mostly this time on demonstration and mini-workshops so anyone who comes can have a go at some of the things that the artists are demonstrating,” she said.
“There’s card-making, there’s quilting, there’s paper-making, china-painting and embroidery. There’s ladies who are doing the spinning and the weaving, there’s ladies coming doing needle felting.”
A craft trading table will also be a feature, boasting plenty of items made from wool.
Ms Porter said the group had been around for more than 45 years and its members ranged in age from their 90s to teenagers.
The event will be held at Mortlake’s Soldiers Memorial Hall. Entry is $2.
The show runs on Saturday and Sunday from 10am-3.30pm and will also offer light lunch and Devonshire teas.
