It was wonderful to get a hole-in-one because that meant I didn’t have to putt
- Peter McMillan
Peter McMillan and Mark O’Keeffe both snagged hole-in-ones on Warrnambool Golf Club’s par-three 13th.
McMillan scored his on Thursday while O’Keeffe nailed it on Saturday.
The golf lovers said the 13th hole was tricky because they had to to shoot uphill to a pin they couldn’t see.
“I had no idea how close my shot would be,” McMillan said.
“I was playing with three others and only Pat Gleeson and I made the green. Unfortunately for Pat it was my ball in the hole.”
McMillan, who used a nine iron for the hit, quipped: “It was wonderful to get a hole-in-one because that meant I didn’t have to putt.”
He said he loved golf and played twice a week at Warrnambool on Thursdays and at Port Fairy on Saturdays.
It was O’Keeffe’s fourth hole-in-one, and his third on the 13th hole.
The talented sportsman and former Warrnambool and Terang football coach said he had started playing golf in 1998.
“I’ve hit three holes-in-one in competitions,” he said.
“My shot hit a ridge above the hole and it rolled back in.”
