From racing junior sedans as a teenager to taking a seat in the commentary box as an adult, the Bushfield commentator is now taking his love to the USA.
The 20-year-old will travel to Illinois as a commentator at the Highbank Hustle next week.
The self-taught commentator, who admits to a love of ‘spinning a yarn’, says he has found his place in the fast-paced sport.
“People have always said I love to talk,” he said. “I’ve got the best seat in the house now. I’m really lucky to have been given an opportunity like this.”
The Highbanks Hustle is the largest outdoor micro-sprint race in the United States. The three-day event, held at the Southern Illinois Raceway, boasts a $10,000 winning prize and a car count over 130.
Parsons will make observations on the microphone in the commentary box as well as conducting interviews with drivers in the pits both before and after races.
His trip to the US means he’ll also become a record-holder in his own right.
“I’d say he’d be one of the youngest Australian commentators to work in the US,” Premier Speedway general manager David Mills said. “He’s come a long way and he’ll do well in the industry. Good luck to him.”
