Symon Wilde’s Gold Medals was successful winning the Brierly and Grand Annual Steeplechase double and lines up in the Australian Steeplechase, while Two Hats won the Galleywood Hurdle for Aaron Purcell and takes his place in the Australian Hurdle.
Warrnambool-based jumps jockey Braidon Small, who rode Two Hats to his Galleywood victory, has the mount again on the seven-year-old in the $125,000 race.
“Two Hats is in great shape after his Galleywood win,” Small said.
“Aaron has freshened him up since the Galleywood win but I did give Two Hats a solid track gallop at Warrnambool on Tuesday and he pulled up a million dollars.
“I don’t think there has been much rain at Sandown and it appears by the weather forecast they’re not predicting any which is a shame because I would have preferred soft going for Two Hats.”
Gold Medals won the Australian Steeplechase last year carrying 64kgs with Shane Jackson in the saddle.
This year he has the services of Jackson again but must carry 69kgs following his Brierly-Grand Annual double.
Ciaron Maher runs Pretty To Sea in a $120,000 restricted flat race while Jarrod McLean accepted with outsider Mr Leebrock and Bryan, who is the second emergency in a 1200-metre race at Sandown.
Maher also has Aloisia running in the $500,000 Queensland Oaks and Darren Weir’s Warrnambool satellite stable has runners at the big Doomben meeting.
