Loveday, who will play for Hampden’s under 17 team at the Netball Victoria regional association championships on Sunday, will play on Port Fairy goal shooter Carley Thomas.
“Han has really stepped up this year and had an amazing year so far and I think putting her up against Carley, one of the best and smartest shooters in the league, will be a real test for her,” van Rooy said.
“She’s been adjusting her game a lot which has been fantastic. She’s been playing on a shorter goal attack or I’ll put her back into ‘keeper and she plays on a really tall goal shooter. She attacks the ball so well. Her first ball drive is fantastic.
“She’s actually quite a tall player but she plays with the ability of a shorter defender.
“She’s got so much mobility and strength.”
van Rooy, whose Roosters boast a 3-2 win-loss record, expects a battle at the other end of the court to also be an integral factor in the round seven game at Friendly Societies’ Park.
“If they have Demelza (Fellowes) playing in ‘keeper against Eliza (Dwyer) that’s going to be a crazy situation there,” she said.
“That will be a very crucial match up. I think it will probably determine how the match goes.
“I think we have to change up our game a little bit. Demelza’s quite a tall, very experienced defender so we have to be not quite as obvious (with our passing) as we have been.
“But we want to focus on ourselves and what we do right and have the confidence to put that ball in.
“Eliza is an amazing shooter so we need to back her.”
