Quinn said tryouts for Sunday’s Netball Victoria regional association junior championships in Ballarat attracted a large number of players eager to take their netball to a higher level, which had the league’s chairperson feeling optimistic about the future quality of the league.
“It was promising to see so many young netballers in our league willing to take that next step,” Quinn said.
“We had 30-plus kids trying out for the under 13s and 15s teams and then 15 for the under 17s, so the kids are eager.”
The District league will field three teams at the championships at Ballarat Netball Association on Sunday.
Quinn, who will coach the under 15s, said her side had a good mix of experienced netballers and young up and comers.
Russells Creek’s A grade coach Thalia Robertson will coach the under 13s and Panmure’s Jenna Clarke will lead the under 17s.
