“The boys like these big games and they love getting themselves up for them,” McLaren said. “Camperdown look like a much improved side, so we are looking forward to seeing how we go against another team who is also traveling well.”

The Magpies, Saints and Port Fairy are the only teams left undefeated after the first five rounds. They all will be looking to keep their unbeaten record coming off the last weekend’s interleague bye.

McLaren said the nine Saints who represented club and league in the Hampden senior interleague side’s nine-point victory over Bendigo were ready to go for Saturday’s clash and that he was relieved he has all available for selection.

“All nine have pulled up well, which is great,” he said. 

“I’m a massive fan of interleague and my players playing, but at the same time you have your fingers crossed, hoping your players can get through unscathed, especially when you have nine in the side like we did.”
