Photography: Over 1300 images will be on show this weekend in Warrnambool with the city hosting the 2018 Victoria Association of Photographic Societies’ (VAPS) annual convention. The Warrnambool Camera Club will oversee the convention, which will be held at Deakin University. The convention begins on Friday and runs all weekend, concluding on Monday. The last time Warrnambool hosted the convention was in 1995. Members of the public are invited to attend the convention and get a close-up look at 680 printed photos and 700 electronic images.

Food: Mailors Flat Hall committee are hosting one of Australia’s Biggest Morning Teas on Friday from 10.30am to 12 noon.
Dance: Warrnambool’s Lighthouse Theatre are presenting Victoria State Ballet’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Friday and Saturday night. The full length classical ballet production runs for two hours and starts at 7.30pm.

Saturday
Terang: The Terang Community Park and Wetlands Committee are hosting their annual working bee from 9am to 12 noon. The community is invited to participate in planting and general tidying around the parks and wetlands off Foley Street.
Art: The Warrnambool Art Gallery is hosting a National Sorry Day event from 11am to 12 noon on Saturday. Gilgar Gunditj weavers Sandra and Melissa Aitken will present a legacy of Elder Constance 'Connie' Hart, Gunditjmara elder and master weaver to commemorate the anniversary of the ‘Bringing Them Home Report’.

Environment: A team of people passionate about the environment will land in Koroit. The team will be made up of Conservation Volunteers Australia and the Basalt To Bay Landcare Network members. Conservation Volunteers Australia officer Skye McPherson, who is based in Warrnambool, will lead the team. Community members who wish to join in the tree planting are welcome to do so.
A bus will be leaving the Flagstaff Hill carpark at 9am on Saturday and returning at 2pm.
Anyone in the Koroit area interested in helping out can call Ms McPherson on 0428 533 019. As well as tree planting, volunteers on the day will get to share in a free barbecue lunch. Ms McPherson encouraged community volunteers to be involved, as it would help them meet new people and learn about local flora species.
Sunday
Centenary: Warrnambool will mark 100 years of being a city on Sunday. A range of activities will be held at Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village between 11am and 3pm with an official ceremony to be held at the Civic Green at 2pm.
Eisteddfod: Warrnambool Eisteddfod will hold its ARIA Final at the Mozart Hall from 1pm on Sunday. Nineteen finalists will take to the stage all vying for the title.
History: Port Fairy’s Mills Cottage will be open for guided tours on Sunday between 11am and 12 noon, 1pm-2pm and 3pm-4pm. Built in 1843, the Gipps Street venue is one of the oldest buildings in Victoria.
Music: Warrnambool’s Lady Bay Resort will host a fundraiser for Muscular Dystrophy Awareness. ‘4 Wide’ will play live music accompanied by raffles, afternoon tea and prizes from 2pm to 4pm.

Birthday: A luncheon is being held for those in the district turning 80 this year, who were born in 1938, at the Old Collegians Football Netball Clubrooms from 12 noon.
Monday
Play: Warrnambool Toy Library are hosting a ‘Stay and Play’ event between 10 am and 11am.
The free event is aimed at zero to four year-olds and will include unstructured play and free hiring of toys.
Wednesday
Fundraiser: The Yambuk community will come together to raise money for the Warrnambool Prostate Cancer Detector Appeal at a Biggest Morning Tea event. To be held in the Yambuk Hall, the gathering will run from 12-2pm with soup, sandwiches and slices on the menu.
Music: Open Mic Night: The Dart & Marlin, 7pm.
Thursday
Music: Jazz Combo: Hotel Warrnambool, 8.30pm.
Dance: Warrnambool’s Lighthouse Theatre will host ‘Josephine Wants to Dance’ from 6.30pm. The 45-minute show is based on the book by Jackie French and Bruce Whatley about a kangaroo who loves to dance.
Forum: The Loft in Warrnambool will host round four of Beer and Ideas, a concept where people pitch placemaking ideas to brighten up Warrnambool. Past ideas have included a public mural, community yoga and a sewing station. The forum at The Loft will feature presentations from Port Fairy Winter Weekends coordinator Loren Tuck and treasurer Harry Bracegirdle.
