Rebels talent manager Phil Partington lauded the Warrnambool footballer for his commitment in playing “at 100 per cent for every minute of every game”.
Partington, who conceded the Rebels lapsed in patches in their 11.13 (79) to 8.5 (53) loss to Gippsland Power, said Schnerring was strong in the clinches.
“’Snapper’ is having a fantastic season. He’s working hard,” he said.
“His contested footy and his ability to breakaway from the outside (is strong).”
Hamilton Kangaroos midfielder Lochie Dawson accumulated the ball and his Hampden league teammate James Cleaver showed his athletic ability in defence.
Portland’s Connor Giddings is “learning his trade as a forward”.
Partington said the Rebels rued a missed opportunity.
“We were in the game all game and fell away with 10 minutes left in the last quarter,” he said. “We are not a bad team, we play a good brand of football.”
Partington said the Vic Country team would be announced this week ahead of the AFL under 18 national championships in June.
Vic Country will play a trial match against the Allies on Sunday with a TAC Cup bye scheduled.
