The world number 16 will carry his home-town’s hopes into the AT&T Byron Nelson final round in Texas, Monday morning Victorian time.
Leishman, who carded a tour career-best 61 in the opening round, is tied with American rookie Aaron Wise at 17-under.
He fired 66 and 69 in his second and third rounds.
The joint leaders sit four shots clear of Australian Matt Jones and American Kevin Na.
