Classical music rang out as almost 500 school students watched in awe as members played their various instruments.
Children were invited onto the stage with the orchestra as conductors, violinists and tambourine players and laughed as musician and pediatrician Nick Thies also performed a magic show.
Assistant principal Dean Clements said private piano teacher Anita Hoekstra organised the annual visit. “Anita tries to get as many genres of music in for the kids to hear,” he said. “She wants music in the school and has done an amazing job. She really mixes it up.”
Mrs Hoekstra said the students appreciated different music and a range of instruments were taught at the school.
“We want the kids to sit there with a sparkle in their eyes and make music fun,” Mrs Hoekstra said.
