Brophy Family and Youth Services LGBTIQ+ equality project; SAFE in the South West is encouraging the community to wear colourful clothing and stand against discrimination in support of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer mates, colleagues and families.
SAFE in the South West worker Shane Hernan said it was a day to publicly stand with the LGBTIQ+ community.
“It’s the perfect opportunity for your school or workplace to start small changes that can make a big difference,” they said.
“Following on from the successful yes vote for same sex marriage last year, we ask all to show their ongoing support for our LGBTIQ+ communities.”
A rainbow flag will be raised outside the Warrnambool City Council Civic Centre at 5.15pm, followed by light refreshments at the Warrnambool Art Gallery as part of the community gathering.
SAFE in the South West will also provide information packs to local schools and community groups in support of IDAHOBIT Day.
