The team of four consisting of Sam Whytcross, Ethan Wass, Billy Baker and Dom Holswich will now progress through to the state final in Melbourne later on this year.
Mercy Regional’s senior team had to settle for runners-up and relinquish bragging rights to their younger counterparts, after the year nines secured the overall victory.
Team coach and Mercy teacher Darren Cheeseman said he was pleased with the four boys’ performance and complimented the evenness of the side.
“From numbers one to four they are a very even team, so you haven't got the top two who are big standouts and then it drops off,” he said. “They are all even and they can all play a different ranking in the side.”
