On Monday night, the skies above Warrnambool were finally clear enough – but Mr Cho wasn’t taking any chances and made sure he had two cameras set up ready to capture the tricky shot.
“The moon actually moves very quick so I have a very small window of opportunity to get the moon in that position,” he said.
Mr Cho said the moon only rises at that angle once or twice a year but with Warrnambool’s notoriously unpredictable weather, a full moon in that location and clear skies is a rare event.
“It’s very rare that I get clear sky on the horizon,” he said. “Finally the forecast was one per cent cloudy.”
