A squad of 42 players from the nine Hampden junior football clubs – clubs put forward four or five players – will be split into two teams in both age groups for the May 20 round-robin tournament.
The coaches for this year’s interleague teams are Stephen Jewell (under 14 white), Ken Radley (under 14 green), Leon Lourey (under 16 white) and Steve Gurry (under 16 green).
Radley, who has 15 years’ coaching experience under his belt, said he was thrilled to be given the opportunity to coach one of the Hampden league’s interleague sides.
“I'm really excited about showcasing some of the best Hampden league talent and giving them the opportunity to play at the next level,” the former Deakin University coach told The Standard.
“It gives them a chance to test themselves against the best players from some other leagues and play against kids they normally wouldn’t get a chance to play against during the season.”
