VFL-listed utility Jason Robinson will make his Hampden league debut against North Warrnambool Eagles at Leura Oval on Saturday.
Magpies coach Phil Carse said Robinson would give them flexibility.
“He played the first two games of the year in the seniors for Werribee and was held out last week as an emergency,” he said.
“We’re rapt to have him in black and white. He trained with the boys throughout the summer and we had him at our camp."
Fellow Werribee-listed talent Patrick Fairhead is recovering from a spider bite.
Carse said the Magpies recruit was on the mend after spending time in hospital over the past fortnight.
“Antibiotics wouldn’t knock it over,” he said.
“He had surgery on his leg to cut out the infection.”
The Eagles have made four changes with defender Sam Doukas, midfielder Matt Wines, speedster Jai Perry and utility Tyler Fowler coming in for Xavier Mills (unavailable), Lewis Holland (quad), Lachie Greig and Reece Scoble.
Cobden coach Levi Dare will play despite being under an injury cloud but the Bombers have made five changes for their crucial clash with Terang Mortlake.
Thomas Spokes, Angus Uwland and Patty Smith all return from injury while ruckman Toby Hawkins and defender Christian Koroneos have been rewarded for strong form in the reserves.
The Bloods added promising teenager Isaac Wareham in place of Brodie Carroll, who is unavailable.
Port Fairy coach Dan Nicholson has been named to play Warrnambool despite time in a moon boot.
Seagulls president Ashley King said it was used as a precaution.
“He had a little bit of soreness in his ankle last week but he is in the side,” he said.
The Seagulls will be without injured trio Matt Sully, Dylan Herbertson and Xavier McCartney and the unavailable Lachie Chapman. Warrnambool has brought in Liam Bishop in place of Ben Fleming (ankle).
