For her and several of her new-look side, the traditional fixture against Portland is uncharted territory.
“I’ve tried not to build it up too much,” Starr said.
“Having a few inexperienced players we didn’t want to add additional nerves or further pressure.
“Getting to play any form of sport on Anzac Day is special though, because it’s a special day for a lot of people.”
Starr said full court defence was key to defeating Portland.
The first-year Kangaroos coach said her side was strictly focused on its own game ahead of the fixture.
She revealed several new combinations were in the works and could debut in the Anzac Day clash.
“We want it right across the court,” she said.
“That way we can turn the ball over early. We’re learning to trust each other as well as a new side.”
