Versace, who won the Stawell Gift in 2014 and was this year’s Stawell Gift ambassador, said he was honoured to represent what he says would become a significant event on the race calendar.
The dash will see participants run 100 metres while carrying a cup of Ireland’s finest stout. The person with the most liquid in their cup will win.
“The Irish Dash is going to take the running experience to a completely new level,” Versace said. “Competitors and spectators alike will walk away with invaluable insight into the art of running the Irish way,” he said.
Versace, who retired after his 2014 Stawell Gift win, will call the event from the sidelines. Committee member Adele MacDonald said they were thrilled to have him on board and the dash would be held as part of Sunday's Gaelic games at Victoria Park.
