Camperdown Horse Trials president Nick McClelland, who heads the committee responsible for the event, said feedback had praised the unique course which is nestled on the rim of Lake Gnotuk.
He said the efforts of newly-appointed designer Sylvia Roberts, who created the cross-country course, ensured the event lived up to expectations.
“I think there are a large number of courses which are fairly flat,” McClelland said.
“But our course has fairly undulating terrain and the hill provides a real challenge for the riders to think about something a bit different.

“This terrain comes with its own set of challenges and I think the riders like that.”
McClelland revealed the triumph of Pakistani rider Usman Khan, who won the CIC two star class, was among the highlights of the event.
“That was the first competition he’s won in Australia for that class, so it was a bit of an honour to have him achieve that at the event,” he said.
“It was quite huge for us as he’s a talented rider.”
