The new-look Roos will take confidence into their Hampden league round two battle against reigning premier Koroit after falling a goal short against South Warrnambool.
Starr, preparing for her second game in charge, said players showed her they were capable of playing in different roles and adjusted well to the pressure of top-grade competition.
“Tayarrah Morris was a standout in goals and Hannah Parker, who was brought up to the open side two weeks ago, had a blinder of a game,” she said.’
“She played wing defence and got a lot of hand on the ball. The next step is to get two hands on the ball and take it cleanly.”
Starr said Morris moved from her usual spot in defence to fill the void of the travelling Eve Duckmanton.
Duckmanton is expected back in coming weeks which will allow Morris to return to her preferred position.
