Detective Senior Constable Elissa Smith said it was alleged there were previous incidents involving the men which had led to grudges.
She said that in the early hours of last Saturday morning there was an incident at Garvoc about 2am.
A meeting had been organised at which the offenders were to bash and steal drugs and money off one of the victim.
"The two victims attended at the meeting and have been assaulted by three armed men, two of which were armed with firearms," Detective Senior Constable Smith said.
"The victims were assaulted, threatened and then falsely imprisoned for some hours before returning to an address in Warrnambool.
“Police were then called."
Police officers attended at the Garvoc crime scene, where a car was forensically examined, and information was then obtained from the victims.
Detective Senior Constable Smith said that at 5am on Friday police executed a search warrant at two Terang addresses.
"Three men aged in their 20s and 30s were arrested," Detective Senior Constable Smith said.
"One man was charged with robbery and assault offences and bailed to appear in the Warrnambool court on Monday. Two other men were interviewed and charged with armed robbery, aggravated carjacking, assaults and false imprisonment.
"They appeared in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Friday afternoon and did not apply for bail."
Detective Senior Constable Smith said there were five men involved in the alleged offending, two who set up the meeting and three who attended the meeting.
Police officers found a small amount of ice, stolen property and ammunition during the raid at the Terang home.
"It will be alleged that the victims were previously involved with the offenders and grudges had been held," Detective Senior Constable Smith said.
"It's been a good result,” she said.
Timothy Barden, 37, of Terang and Dylan Cosgrove, 30, of Koroit, appeared in the court and were remanded in custody until June 29.
