For Dreger, it’s her first time back on the bike after a hand injury, while for Maher it’s his first time riding in the junior one-hour enduro race.
Dreger said she was feeling a little anxious to get back onto the bike and race in the women’s three-hour enduro race with Katelyn Reilly at Woolsthorpe‘s Quamby Homestead because of her injured hand.
“It’s my first race back on the bike since I dislocated my wrist at Lake Gillear a few weeks ago,” she said.
“I’m feeling a little nervous, but that it’s a good nervous and hopefully I can go out and get a win.”
Maher, in complete contrast to Dreger, is eager to hit the track at Woolsthorpe.
“I’m excited,” he told The Standard. “It’s my first time riding in one of the club’s pony express events.
“I rode the track this week and I thought that it was a pretty good track to ride on.
“I think I can get through the full hour of riding, I have just got to hold my line and work on concentrating for the whole race.”
The club is expecting 285 riders will compete in the event which starts at 8.30am on Saturday at Woolsthorpe’s Quamby Homestead.
