Club representatives met with AFL Western District on Wednesday night after the Warrnambool and District league executive handed governance to the football body last Friday.
AFL Western District regional general manager Kate Williamson said both parties were confident that “issues would be resolved in the best interest of our sport”.
Williamson said no further comment would be made while the discussions were underway.
The WDFNL executive let go of governance after a tumultuous week in which president Ken McSween was asked to step down after an alleged breach of by-laws. It came after the South West District league’s executive stepped down in December.
