The auction in Colac hopes to raise about $40,000 to buy about 600 tonnes of hay for farmers whose paddocks were burnt in the blazes.
Organisers are holding the auction in Colac to allow the wider south-west community to show support for those hit by the fires.
The event, which has been organised by ANZ and One Agency Colac real estate agents, will auction donated items such as travel, food and leisure packages and sporting memorabilia, including player-signed Essendon, Geelong, Richmond, Carlton, North Melbourne and Sydney Swans football club jumpers.
Event tickets are now on sale for $50 per person which includes entry, entertainment from local band The Vulkans, food and beverages and raffle tickets.
Proceeds raised will be used to purchase and distribute fodder via the Lions Club’s ‘Need for Feed’ project, as well as a donation to volunteer-based organisation BlazeAid.
Warrnambool Bus Lines is providing support with discounted bus transport to Colac at $10 a person return for residents of Warrnambool, Terang, Camperdown and Cobden that have pre-purchased tickets.
Tickets are now on sale via Eventbrite and must be pre-purchased by midday Friday to secure transportation.
Businesses wanting to make a donation to the auction can contact Alana Pittard at Alana.Pittard@anz.com, 0428 670 022.
