“I normally come in here fairly early, about 3.30am or 4am and I go around and check the cupboards – that’s what I call my time,” he said.
“By 6am I’m out there cooking the sausages. By about 6.15am they’re starting to roll through, they’re not supposed to come through till 6.30am but if I’m there just come on through mate.
“I get them all fed in the finish and we have a bit of a laugh out there.”
Mr Goodall had previous experience as a chef and baker and was happy to use those skills to help others.
The Terang camp is Mr Goodall’s fourth and he said he got a lot of personal satisfaction from volunteering and the camaraderie from the camp. “I always said my personal motto should be born to serve,” he said. “We’ve all got the same outlook on life, to help others, to get the job done and to get the community going again after a disaster.”
