Best, playing as Port Fairy’s number one golfer for the second week in a row, defeated Mal Groves to help his top grade side to its first win of the year defeating Hamilton 4-3 at Cobden on Saturday.
Best claimed his second win as the club’s number one golfer in the weekly scratch competition
“I can’t rate Noah enough,” he said “I have put him at number one the last couple of weeks and he has performed and got the win for us. He is a promising young golfer and he is really showing his potential after I put him in the deep end.”
Longmore also praised the efforts of Shane Gurnett and Rex Grady, who along with Best and Matt Cameron, helped secure the club’s first triumph of the season.
In other WDGA pennant match-ups, Warrnambool kept its unbeaten start to the season with a 5-2 victory over Portland. Cobden made use of its home course advantage to secure a 5-2 triumph over Timboon.
