The newly-appointed mentor knows talent recruited in the off-season – including returning midcourter Stacy Dunkley – will eventually jel.
But time is the essence as Russells Creek plots a return to the Warrnambool and District league finals.
Creek showed encouraging signs in an 11-goal loss to Old Collegians on Saturday, but Robertson identified a new-look midcourt as an area of improvement.
“I think our defenders are playing quite good netball, but there’s been a bit of disconnect through to the attacking end,” Robertson said.
“We’ve thrown Brooke Price into the centre role and myself, Brooke and Stacy (Dunkley) are still figuring out how we play together.
“I think we have to work on bringing the ball down the court a little more. With the wet weather we had on the weekend, you can’t train to play in that. All things considered, there were positives.”
Robertson, who replaced Sam Dean at the helm of the Mack Oval club after several seasons as a player, said Russells Creek would use its looming bye as a tune-up.
“Every side has the bye, so it really doesn’t matter when you have it,” she said.
“We’ve got a fair bit of time now to work on a few key issues and to build on our good attacking and defensive stuff.
“We’ve mixed combinations and we really hope that helps us out for the rest of the season.”
