A Mobile Service Centre to help people access government services such as Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support services will be in fire-affected parts of the south-west this week.

The service centre will be located in front of the Terang Civic Hall on Monday and Tuesday before shifting to Hawkesdale on Wednesday and Penshurst on Thursday. It will be in Casterton on Friday, April 20, Lake Bolac on Monday, April 23 and Skipton on Tuesday, April 24.
Staff on board offer support tailored to each community.
A social worker will be available on board to assist with offering short-term counselling and referrals to support services.
A Farm Household Case Officer will also be available, and a Financial Information Services Officer will be in attendance at Hawkesdale and Casterton to help people make informed decisions about investment and financial matters for their current and future financial needs.
Information about Department of Veterans’ Affairs programs and support services for veterans and their families will also be available.
Member for Wannon Dan Tehan said the visit of the mobile service centre, which was called the Desert Rose, was “a great opportunity for our community to come down and meet face-to-face with the specialist staff.
“You don’t need an appointment, and it’s a free service – so if any member of our community has a question or needs any assistance, make sure you come down and visit the team aboard Desert Rose this month,” Mr Tehan said.
The van will be near the Mechanise Institute Hall in Hawkesdale on Wednesday and near the Volcanoes Discovery Centre at Penshurst on Thursday.
