IT’S said sometimes you learn more from a loss than a win.
That’s exactly what Warrnambool Rangers coach Rob Andrews hopes happens when they travel to face Ballarat Red on Sunday.
The Rangers crashed to a 3-0 defeat to Sebastopol Vikings at a windswept and rain-soaked Jones Oval in round two, levelling their Ballarat and District Soccer Assocation win-loss ledger at 1-1.
“We were against the wind in the first half and didn’t set up well and they took advantage,” Andrews said of being 2-0 down at the main break.
There were positives for the Rangers, highlighted by the emergence of teenage duo Jonas Welsh and Darcy Johnstone.
Andrews said Johnstone’s game in particular was promising with the Vikings forced “to change the way they played” to combat his efforts.
Warrnambool Rangers’ women’s side scored a win via forfeit after a lack of numbers forced Sebastopol’s hand.
