After a tied first quarter, the Blues came out on top 48-43 in wild weather conditions on Saturday.
“It was a pretty tight game,” Poumako said. “The weather had a big impact. It didn’t suit our style of play, but we kept chipping away.”
Poumako said the Blues’ quarters were “a bit up and down”.
“There is plenty to work on,” she said.
“Our defensive pressure all over the court was really good. The girls backed each other up.”
She said experienced goal attack Wormald, who shot 31 goals, was excellent.
She also praised the efforts of Sinead Finck and Sarah O’Keeffe.
Poumako highlighted Jesse Thwaites and Mariah Carlin who played their first open division matches for the club.
