Coach’s comment: “Only won four games last year and our target is to win a lot more games this year. I have confidence with the team I’ve got and if we didn't play finals I'd be upset.” – Scott Redmond

Prediction: Third – Expecting a big year from the Cats. They have a new coach in Scott Redmond and have gone on a recruiting drive in the off season to fill their shooting stocks.

2017 finish: Second

Player to watch: Jess Haberfield – “Good form at the minute and looking good, going to have a killer season.” 

Coach’s comment: “Think we’ll be pretty competitive, after the last few years we’ve tried not to aim for the finals, but we’re looking strong and we have a different mix of girls.” – Melissa Burt

Prediction: First – The reigning premiers have put the lid back on and are ready for another year. Expecting them to continue where they left off in 2017.

2017 finish: 11th

Outs: Carmel Moloney (Allansford), Emma O’Neil, Lee-ann Moana.

Player to watch: Callan Bourke, Ellie Forssman, Alana Rahu – “They bring a lot to the team and complement the people we have still got.”

Coach’s comment: “We’ve got a pretty strong side, and we’re going to shock some teams and there will be a lot of positives about us this year.” – Amy Gibson

Prediction: Ninth – With a new coach and new recruits, the Bombers could fly off the bottom of the ladder.

2017 finish: Third

Player to watch: “I’m excited to see how my whole team goes.”

Coach’s comment: “I can’t wait until we have our first game, so I can see where we are at as a side against one of the best in the competition.” – Jody Roth

Prediction: Seventh – Hard to gauge where the Power are at. They could possibly finish as high as third, but as low as seventh. Expecting Jody Roth’s side to start slow and finish in a flurry.

2017 finish: Sixth 

Ins: Jess Smith, Maya Netherway, Lucy Attrill, Grace Bennett, April Warden, Eliza Ljubic, Tatum Cassidy, Kristen McCaskill.

Outs: Tanaya Harradine (Allansford), Nicole Sandow (army), Emily Dwyer (retired), Nicole Ferguson, Cloe Pulling, Haylee Finn.

Player to watch: Elisa Ljubic – “She was my first pick for girls who are capable of being able to slot into the senior side.” 

Coach’s comment: “It just goes to show our girls can match it with whoever we want. We just have to stay positive and really focus on doing the basics right.” – Nicole Ferguson

Prediction: Eleventh – Showed promising signs in their match against Old Collegians on Good Friday. Lots of youth in the squad, shaping as a rebuilding year, will challenge a lot of teams.

2017 finish: First 

Ins: Joanna Couch (Cobden), Nicole Smith (A res).

Outs: Lisa Couch (Terang Mortlake), Brooke Townsend.

Player to watch: Sophie Adams - “She settled into the groove of A grade last season in goal shooter.” 

Coach’s comment: “We have put in a big pre-season and hopefully the fitness is there to and we would like to be in the finals contention again. But we aren't focusing on that yet and we are just focusing on settling into the season.” – Steph Townsend

Prediction: Second – Expecting another big season from the Blues. Will be strong and will look to bounce back from last year’s grand final loss.

2017 finish: Seventh 

Ins: Nicole O'Shannessy (Dennington), Meagan Forth (injury), Erin Maxwell (Simpson), Casey Pye (Hawkesdale-Macarthur).

Outs: Vanessa McLaren (Koroit), Tamara Bull, Keahna Richards, Erin Arms.

Player to watch: Casey Pye – “She is a very mobile and smart defender.” 

Coach’s comment: “I think we will go really well, we’ve had really good progress early in the pre-season and we’ve retained a huge block of players from last year.” – Meagan Forth 

Prediction: Fifth – A mix of new recruits and returning players, including the influential defender in Pye, expect the Collegians to drive themselves back up the ladder and into premiership contention.

2017 finish: Eighth 

Ins: Steph Ziegelaar (Timboon Demons), Rachel Eldridge (Mininera league), Namaya Zimmer (Koroit).

Player to watch: Rhianna Healey – “She is very quick and very elegant when she plays and has a good netball brain.” 

Coach’s comment: “We’re a very young side and we want to keep improving and see how we go this year.” – Steph Jamieson

Prediction: Tenth – In a season where a young side will start as pups, they hope to emerge as Bulldogs. 

2017 finish: Tenth 

Ins: Stacy Dunkley (South Rovers), Nikole Sullivan (South Rovers), Brooke Price (university).

Outs: Bree Lane (university).

Player to watch: Ellie McMahon – “She is a pretty underrated player. She is the most accurate shooter I've played with and she is agile and uses the space quite well.”

Coach’s comment: “We started off poorly last year and then got our groove on as the season went on. I think having a year behind us as a team will help us this year and we’ve recruited some experience, so I think we should do quite well.” – Thalia Robertson

Prediction: Eighth – Expecting a much better year from Russells Creek. Three recruits will look to bolster their chances of success in 2018.

2017 finish: Fourth 

Ins: Marnie Vickers (Timboon Demons), Sheridan Armati (East Warrnambool).

Outs: Stacy Dunkley, Nicole Sutherland (Russells Creek).

Player to watch: Lisa Pender – “She has got very fit over the off-season and she is ready to go.”

Coach’s comment: “We want to work with our junior girls and we are working with them to give them a run at a higher level.” – Jess Rohan

Prediction: Sixth – With the evenness at the top of the table and new head coach Jess Rohan’s youthful approach, expect the Rovers to be battling for those final spots.

2017 finish: Fifth 

Ins: Melissa Mckenzie, Natalie Hunt, Raina Hunt.

Outs: Steph Ziegelaar (Panmure), Marnie Vickers (South Rovers)

​Player to watch: Lily Hose – “I think she is capable of stepping up to the A grade team.” 

Coach’s comment: “We finished off in the prelim and that will be our minimum expectation this year, so I would be expecting us to get to the grand final and hopefully win it. We’ve a good line-up and if we don't have any mishaps or injuries then I can't see why that wouldn’t be an aim for us.” – Kelly Gowland

Prediction: Fourth – Finished last season strongly when they pushed Nirranda in the preliminary final. The Demons will have another big year and could be an outside chance to be a real challenger at the top of the ladder.
