The Corangamite community is rallying behind serving councillor Bev McArthur and her husband Stewart, a former federal MP, after their son was killed in a cycling accident.

Andrew McArthur was on a bike ride with a friend in Sydney’s Paddington on Tuesday morning when he and a vehicle were involved in an accident about 7.20am.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, Mr McArthur died shortly after he was rushed to St Vincent’s Hospital.
Corangamite Shire mayor Jo Beard said the thoughts of shire councillors, staff and the whole community were with Mr McArthur's family.
“We send our thoughts and love to fellow councillor Bev – and Stewart, James and Sarah McArthur on the sudden and tragic passing of their son and brother Andrew, yesterday in Sydney," she said in a statement.
"We will continue to support Bev and her family during this difficult time."
Mr McArthur's father was a federal Liberal Party member for the Victorian seat of Corangamite. First elected in 1984, he was re-elected seven times before being defeated in the 2007 election.
Mr McArthur worked at UBS in Sydney, and a spokeswoman said the company was “deeply sad” about his death, and the company's thoughts were with his family and friends.
A police spokeswoman said the investigation into the cause of the crash was ongoing.
