The event is on Wednesday, and there will be three placemaking ideas shared.
Attendees will hear from residents who have placemaking ideas to make public areas in Warrnambool brighter. The crowd will vote for their favourite idea and the one with the most votes takes home all of the money raised on the door, plus matched funding from Warrnambool City Council.
“We have our youngest presenter ever,” Ms Murphy said.
“Hamish is eight and we are hoping it will inspire young people to put their ideas forward. We could call it Ginger Beers and Ideas.”
The $10 entry fee gets you a drink and a vote. Children are $5.
“There is a bit of momentum building,” Ms Murphy said. “People who come on the night can also check out the first Beers and Ideas winner Jimmi Buscombe’s mural. It’s all about building community.”
Beers and ideas is a crowdfunding platform for residents to carry out placemaking projects.
Placemaking is the process of creating vibrant, authentic and memorable public spaces that are valued by the community and visitors. It inspires people to re-imagine and reinvent the public spaces they share and to work together to articulate, plan and deliver a vision for a better place.
Ideas and activities include building a public herb garden, hosting an open-air cinema, a laneway music, street art or food festival, creating murals, transforming a car park into a beach, installing an outdoor hammock lounge, creating a lunchtime spot to sit and relax, lighting up laneways with lampshades, hosting a pop-up restaurant, sporting matches or a glow in the dark laneway festival.
Beers and Ideas starts at 6pm at Super Kawaii Studio, in the Ozone Laneway off Koroit Street.
