The B grade show jumping team, which included Hayden Parker riding It Lux Nitro and Fat Boy Slim, Erika Grant riding My Acrobat and Shakaya McCrae-Wilson riding Scotland the Brave, was crowned winners of the PB show jumping champions after securing a 22-point victory on Sunday.
The C grade show jumping team, which included McCrae-Wilson riding Questing, Mitchell Parker riding Sir Beau Gart, Sheree Wright riding Red Buttons and Emily Manuell riding Neopolian, also secured a dominant 41-point victory to claim the PC show jumping state title.
On Saturday the grade three dressage team of Makayla Lowther riding Brofour Wiseguy, Manuell again on Neopolian and Imogen Mounsey riding Enchanted Princess, placed eighth overall, while Erika Grant riding Nawarrah Park Union Jack placed third overall in grade one.
Wannon Zone chief instructor Shelley McCrae said she was proud of the 11-horse and eight-rider team.
“The team did so well, we are so proud of them and it was a real team effort on all riders’ and horses’ behalf,” she said. “It's a big effort as we don't usually field teams and it was an awesome effort from them.
“Heading down there we knew they were a strong team but we didn't realise we would pull off wins like this.”
