Victorian Emergency Services Equipment Program funds have helped the Toolong Fire Brigade buy a new ride-on lawn mower. Captain Russell Cumming said the old mower couldn’t cope with the amount of grass to be mowed at the site, which they moved to in 2014.

The brigade’s application also had the support of Belfast Group who co-locates with the brigade at the premises and the Port Fairy Cycling Club and Toolong Community Group who meet regularly in the neighbouring former Toolong Primary School building.

“The area is well used, particularly by those travelling along the rail trail, so it made sense to bring other community groups in on our project (application), as the mower will keep the whole community hub looking neat and tidy,” Mr Cumming said.
