“You’ve just got to stay in that chair.”
That was the advice Terang poet Anne Gleeson – who goes by the pen name E.A.Gleeson – offered to aspiring writers wanting to get started on a project.
Next month, Ms Gleeson will share her experience and knowledge alongside south-west novelist Meridith McKinnon at an event at Blarney Books and Art in Port Fairy on Thursday March 15.
Ms Gleeson has published three poetry books, while Ms McKinnon published her debut novel, The Thai Wife, last year.
Ms McKinnon said the talk would offer people curious about writing the chance to learn more about the process behind the scenes.
“I have a routine on my wall in front of the laptop, but I never stick to it,” she said.
Ms Gleeson said her writing had to fit around her unpredictable work in the funeral industry, which she had grown used to.
The event, in James Street, will run from 5.30pm to 7pm and refreshments and nibbles will be available.
