Senior Constable Andrew Prisco said the evade police incident happened at 8am Wednesday along the Cobden-Lavers Hill Road.
He said officers saw a white 1995 Commodore ute come out of Cobden travelling at about 115km/h.
Police did a U-turn, activated emergency lights and the driver accelerated heavily, being detected at 155km/h.
Senior Constable Prisco said police did not chase the ute which was soon after seen overtaking a truck up a steep hill on a blind bend.
He said officers talked to the truck driver who was left shaken by the incident.
"We are pursuing avenues of investigations," Senior Constable Prisco said.
"We are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with information, to contact the Cobden police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000," he said.
