Shaun Kelson, 41, of Wilson Street, did not apply for bail in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody until next Monday.
Magistrate Ron Saines was told that Mr Kelson had other criminal charges listed at Warrnambool court next week, although it was not known what those charges were.
It is not anticipated that Mr Kelson will make a bail application next Monday and it is likely he will be held in custody for some time.
He has a lengthy criminal history.
Mr Kelson's new charges include breaching court orders, bail conditions and theft from a shop.
