But after eight Melbourne and Bendigo country week campaigns with the Grassmere Cricket Association, the Allansford skipper is under no illusions of the task before him.

“I’ve always loved country week, because it’s just good to play with different people. When I was included in the squad, I thought I’d jump at the chance,” Bant said.

“I guess I know what to expect in that you’re playing four or five days in a row, but it’s obviously going to be a little bit different in division one.

“Our opposition is going to be some of the best cricketers in Victoria so it’s not going to be easy.”

Bant demanded a place in the 14-strong squad after two centuries for Allansford in December.

He is the second-highest run scorer in the Warrnambool and District Cricket Association behind Woodford captain Nick Butters.

The 27-year-old revealed he wouldn’t change his batting style for the Melbourne foray.

“I don’t think I’ll change the way I do it – but I’ll probably have the best seat in the house to watch some of the best batsmen go about it,” Bant said.
