New Eagles coach Dot Jenkins believes the omissions will pave the way for new faces to step into the goal shooter and goal attack positions.
“We’re losing what I would have called our goalies as such because Annie Blackburn is going overseas and Sophie Chow is doing uni in Melbourne and Skye Billings as yet hasn’t recovered from an injury,” she said.
“But what happens at all clubs is it gives other people an opportunity and that probably excites me.
“Victoria Grundy and Sophie Ballinger both play A1 and I think either of them could step up and we’ve got some strong juniors that will also come up.”
Jenkins, who has replaced Kolora-Noorat-bound Jody Roth, said the Eagles’ nucleus remained a threat.
Elisha Carter, Kate O’Meara, Jordyn Billings and Georgia Corbett will play.
Carter and O’Meara will miss some games through travel.
“I think we will be a different look but we’ll be aiming to be competitive and keep working as we’ve done for years,” Jenkins said.
“That’s our motto: you’ve got to get in and work together and what will be will be.”
