While most of us will look to the skies and make “ooh and ah” sounds during April’s Nitro Circus performance, one Warrnambool teenager will have an insider’s appreciation of the skill involved in a number of the acts.
As he watches his idol Aaron ‘Wheelz’ Fotheringham perform his double back flips, front flips and gap jumps, Harvey Thulborn McCorkell will know what it takes to skillfully maneuver a wheelchair.
Himself a WCMX rider, Harvey has been a fan of the thrill-seeking athlete for more than seven years.
“He’s amazing and his tricks are so cool,” Harvey said. “He proves that anyone can have fun and try new things.I know how much hard work goes into it. It’s just harder to perfect tricks in a chair I guess.”
When Nitro Circus perform before a crowd of 10,000 in Warrnambool on April 14, Harvey said he and mum Kylie will be there to see the action.
“Oh yeah, I can’t wait to see what tricks Travis and the boys have for us,” he said.
