Sergeant Kim Wheeler said a 33-year-old Warrnambool man was currently assisting police with their inquiries after he was identified on security camera footage and intercepted by a divisional van crew at 5am on Thursday.
She said that man was expected to appear in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court later today for a bail/remand hearing.
Sergeant Wheeler said the gold Ford was stolen in the Corio area of Geelong on Tuesday.

"It's believed to be carrying stolen registrations plates and at least one of those plates is understood to be YRZ-124.
"We are seeking information from the public about the whereabouts of this vehicle and its occupants. Anyone with information is requested to contact the Warrnambool police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000," she said.
