South-west team manager Brenda Boyd highlighted Drake as one of many juniors who will be strong chances to challenge at the regional competition, which kicks off on Friday in Wodonga.
“For Patrick I expect he will have another good year at the inter-regional tournament,” she said.
“He was successful in the under 14s last year and he will be a favourite to take out the under 16s draw.”
Warrnambool-based Drake has been in strong form on court in the past three months.
He qualified for the main AMT draw at the Warrnambool Lawn Tennis Club’s AMT tournament last Friday.
He also had a breakthrough victory at an Altona-based silver-ranked junior tournament in October, followed by an under 16 boys singles win at the Bendigo International Pro Tour Junior Tournament in November.
Boyd also expects Harry Boyd, the Gedye brothers, Tom and Toby, and Greta Dabizzi to perform well at the tournament.
