Stevens and his Victorian teammates overcame NT 46-30 in the decider this morning.
“NT really lifted in the final and gave us our biggest challenge for the week,” Stevens said.
“They had a couple of big boys that were strong under the ring in defence, which saw us shooting from outside the 3 point line.
“That’s where our little guys stepped up and got the points, while us big boys defended.”
Stevens started the week off scoring well, before teams starting double teaming to shut him down.
Because of this his focus shifted from offence to defence, where he made a valuable contribution in the final with some blocks and rebounds, before finding teammates in scoring positions on the offence.
“Winning the Pacific Games final feels pretty special,” Stevens Said.
“It’s been a real commitment getting to training and playing, but I feel its paid off in the end.
“I’m honoured to have been a part of this team and to come away from the competition with a win and a medal.”
