The Bulls all-rounder copped a one-match ban for an incident stemming from their Warrnambool and District Cricket Association win over West Warrnambool on Saturday.
Murphy was charged with ‘excessive send-off in an aggressive manner upon the dismissal of a batsman’.
He was offered a set one-match penalty for the incident involving Panther Damon Harrison but opted to test his luck at the tribunal.
The tribunal upheld the sanction on Wednesday night, ruling Murphy out of the Bulls’ two-day clash against the Eels.
He will be free to return to the pitch on January 6 following the association’s Christmas break.
Brierly-Christ Church sits third on the ladder with six wins and three losses.
Murphy, who returned to the club this season following a stint at East Warrnambool-YCW, is averaging 30 runs a game.
His older brother Nathan – a former club captain – is averaging 78 after starting the season with a purple patch.
